Hearing Klein's question, the baby wrapped in silver silk raised its chubby arms and stretched them out to both sides. It said:
"Actually, there's nothing I can do! I'm still inside my mother’s womb!
"The crane isn't able to write now, but it can help me locate you. If anything happens, I'll notify you!"
This response from Wil. Ansaitt was exactly what Klein expected. He kept his posture and smile as he explained:
"That crane has already shown some damage. I think the positioning might be a problem."
Then he gave his suggestion:
"Maybe we can do this: You call my messenger after your birth, and have them write you a letter."
He was worried that there could be unusual circumstances at Wil's birth, forcing the "Snake of Fate" to take on an infant form somewhere else. In that case, they might not be able to contact each other.
In the black baby carriage, Wil. Ansaitt opened his mouth and closed it again, remaining silent for a while before he said with slightly flattened lips:
"Do you think this is realistic?
"Not only do we want a newborn baby to write you letters, but also set up rituals and summon messengers?"
Klein chuckled and said:
"But you are the 'Snake of Fate.'"
"That must be respected!" Wil. Ansaitt swung his arm and patted the cushion next to him.
The baby thought for a moment before saying:
"Alright, you can have someone keep an eye on this place. Once they spot a birth, they should immediately report it."
Klein moved his eyes around and said:
"That could work."
He had too many people he could use here: He could hire gang members through Sharon to deliver messages, get Emlyn White busy with something for the messengers, ask Miss Hoy to help and let the "Magician" Miss inform the world of Gehrman Sparrow, or have Arodès, the "Mirror," pay attention and report from a single line.
However, Emlyn's nose was very sensitive; he might detect the cord blood outside the house even before the baby was born… If that happened, it could bring similar shock to his mind, causing him to lose rationality, go mad, or undergo physical changes…
Seizing the opportunity when Wil. Ansaitt’s baby carriage had not yet retreated back into the shadow, Klein asked hurriedly:
"I have a teacher I haven't contacted in a long time. Could you check on his current fate for me?
"His name is Azik Eggers."
Since Mr. Azik never replied to him, Klein was somewhat worried. He had done divination using the copper whistle above the Gray Fog and only saw a silent and deep darkness with distant breaths, but he couldn't interpret this dream.
Wil Ansaitt sucked his thumb and said:
"He is in a state of change. This could be good or bad; I can see it to this extent because your teacher has some special things on him."
Special things? Did they come directly from the deity's divinity? State of change? Could this mean that Mr. Azik regained more memories, and was again using sleep to recover his power?
