"Still have some minor details I want to discuss with you," Duan Boyang said. "You had other things to do this afternoon, right? So the lunch time is just perfect."
Xia An nodded, effectively agreeing.
The two left Yún Màn Advertising and got into Duan Boyang's car directly without seeing Lu Qicheng's vehicle parked downstairs.
Lu Qicheng had been thinking all night about how to properly approach Xia An. As she stepped out, he was prepared to greet her but couldn't help noticing that she was chatting with a man.
The thought angered Lu Qicheng as he clenched the steering wheel, muttering under his breath: "Xia An, we just discussed divorce yesterday, and today you're already talking warmly with another man. Are you this heartless?"
Jealousy burned within him, even though as the president of Xiángwǔ Group, he wasn't supposed to act like a petty jealous boyfriend.
Duan Boyang took Xia An to a nearby restaurant for lunch, having prepared some minor details beforehand. He was relieved that Xia An didn't object to his attentions, making this meal quite pleasant.
Lu Qicheng had snuck in secretly and showed up when they finished their meal.
"What were you doing not answering my call?" Lu Qicheng asked as he appeared before her with a stern expression.
Xia An remembered then that she must have left the phone on silent during the meeting. But now, she was unwilling to explain herself. If this was how Lu Qicheng wanted to act—suddenly appearing and interrogating her—he shouldn't have ignored her calls when she had needed his help before.
"Mr. Lu, is there anything you need? If it's urgent, please talk to my secretary. I really need to go now!"
Lu Qicheng was taken aback but a sudden anger welled up inside him as he saw Xia An treating him like a stranger in her mind—was she just someone who didn't matter?
"Xia An, what's the matter with you?" Lu Qicheng grabbed Xia An’s wrist.
Duan Boyang wasn’t about to watch this unfold. "Mr. Lu, please have respect," he pulled Xia An away from Lu Qicheng.
Lu Qicheng turned his attention to Duan Boyang.
Wasn't this man Duan Boyang someone whom he had already checked? With a billion-dollar fortune and still single—certainly not an unworthy man. But how could that be, when his woman was being coveted by others?!
"Duan Boyang, Xia An is my wife. Do you understand?"
"I know, but please don't take it personally while we discuss business with Xia Manager," Duan Boyang knew he had to protect Xia An from unnecessary conflicts; now wasn’t the time for him to step in and worsen things.
"Mr. Duan, let's go. I have a meeting later," Xia An glared at Lu Qicheng unhappily.
She hadn't expected Lu Qicheng not to trust her.
